The Hummingbirds Are Gone Now

By SongofJoy

It always makes me a little melancholy when I realize that the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have left here on their annual fall migration to southern Mexico, Central America, and even as far away as South America.

Here in NW Missouri, my last sighting last year was October 9 - fer sure passers-thru. I have not noticed any the past several days so ....

I too miss them when they are gone. But I always provide a welcome feeder always filled - only take it down after first frost and put it up a couple of weeks before average first sighting for my area.

North FL here & still seeing them. They generally are gone here around 10/15 but I too leave a feeder up for any who might be late coming through.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others.

My two are still busy here. They usually don't leave until sometime in October.

Still had 2 out of 4 as of yesterday but male has gone south. Assuming that the remaining 2 are the babies, they take longer day-trips as departure day gets near but are always back in late afternoon/early evening.
