Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes small, folding shears that I can stuff in my pocket to carry around when I'm watering? My regular shears are too heavy and try to undress me *Blush* if I put them in my pocket. Mostly I notice things that need snipping when I'm watering and it would be soooooo nice to be able to have clippers handy.

Lowes and Home Depot have a two pruner set. His have Corona written on the side of the blade. The larger one is good for cutting small branches (about the thickness of my baby finger) and the smaller one is just perfect for dead heading and very thin stalks. He uses his for his bonsai trees. Both are small enough to fit comfortably in the back pocket of my jean shorts.

Do they fold up so as not to poke holes in pockets (and my delicate flesh Big Grin )?

They close up and lock. You still have the tips out there but since the tips are doubled up, I have no problem with them at all. I haven't gotten stuck, scraped or "bitten" yet. Smiling If you are accident prone, you might want to look for perhaps some "safety scissor" type clippers! Hilarious!

Hmmm, I tend to wear lightweight, gauze slacks in the summer and those look like they would poke holes in delicate fabric. Ha, my dogs and goats have put so many holes in my summer clothes that they're mostly patches! Hilarious!
I did find these online and am thinking about giving them a try:

Those look good, wonder if they come in a brighter color so they would not get lost.

Woofie,I just spotted your question.
I wear a gardening vest with many pockets I got it from Duluthe Tradeing Company. I hate having to drop shears or prunners to use 2 hands. This way the prunners are always at waist level.

Its vented with a mesh back.

I agree and complained to the tore. Why didnt they have half sizes or Mens which is what I usually have to settle for. I am s 2X so I dont close it. Its an OK fit when opened. I cant wear it over my linned garden jacket.

Yeah, that vest looks like a good idea, but a) a bit on the pricey side and b) too small for me too! Heh, heh, anyone out there sew?

And that Duluth website does offer something similar in Men's sizes, but I still think they're just a tad expensive (although I have ordered some of the other cool things that Duluth has in the past!) Hmmm, gotta check out what Amazon has on offer in that department. Darn, that vest looks GOOD!

Oh yeah, I went ahead and ordered that little cheapo folding cutter I found at Amazon, but I'm still looking for something nicer. I'll let you guys know how I like it. Ha, probably break the first time I try to use it!

woofie , I started out with sewn patch pockets( leftover drapery fabrick) on my lined canvas jacket I bought at Duluth.
Its a mans jacket because Duluth seems to think women just do light housework and Martha Stweart jobs in the garden.
I trimmed the sleeves so they werent dragging in compost and catching on protruding objects like the handles of the garden tub.
Its great for early spring cold day jobs and fall weather.

JoAnn, did you check out the men's work vest over at Duluth? I'm sorely tempted.....especially since it has a pocket for a cell phone!

Try Googling, 'Photographers vest', 'photo vest', 'fishing vest' or 'safari vest'. Probably others as well. Maybe one will work?

Evan,I was just about to suggest a fishing vest!! My dh has a fishing vest that he uses for all his photo stuff when we go out on the trails. I'll bet one of those vests would be awesome to hold all the gardening stuff anyone could handle! Smiling

Hey Sally. I remember when the photographers vests were stylish, at least in Boston. I'd wear it down Newbury Street on Saturday then camping or fishing on Sunday. It's been in a drawer since the 90's but after reading Jo Ann's post I think I'm going to resurrect it.
