I bought this plant today in 3gal for $29.99. It looks cool and i did internet research about this species with not much luck.

As you can see it has lots of flowers. Does it propagate easy?

Thank you.

It's an absolutely lovely little tree; we have it at the Botanical Garden. I am coveting one of the offsets (we air layered it). Check out its database entry.

I've never grown Cubanola (Cubanola domingensis) so I'm not sure how easy it is or what the best time of year is to propagate cuttings ... but it sure is pretty! You should consider uploading a couple of your photos to the database.

cb, I'm not good at explaining stuff but here goes:

Find the plant in the database. Here it is for : Cubanola (Cubanola domingensis)

Scroll down a little way and look on the left side of the page where you will see a box that says:
Adding Actions and the first choice will be:
Upload a photo

Click on "Upload a photo" and then you will see a green space that says
"Upload an Image"

Select the photo from your computer to open it and then the green area will say Uploading which will take a few seconds. Once the small photo shows up on the screen you will see a box where you check off whether it's a picture of a bloom, leaves, stem, close up of buds, etc. and then at the very bottom click on the green area that says "Submit a photo"

Your image will go into a queue for the database moderators to add it and you will get a system message telling you it's done.

This plant is fairly rare. One if the common names is Tree Lily. Its flower form is somewhat similar to Brugmansia and it shares the trait of night time fragrance. It is also known as Portlandia domingensis. It is not in the Brugmansia family but is in the Gardenia family. Under the right conditions it will grow to about 5 feet in a pot (more in the ground), though it can start blooming at ~ 2 feet. It can happily live in pots and as an indoor plant where it can handle lower light. Blooms off and on from Spring - Fall.

Interesting - Logees has a sale on it now for $19.95 for a 4" pot.

I have not personally grown this plant/tree but am temped by the Logee's offer.
