I am not knocking the other products. I have had Fiskars that were great. I buy a lot of garden tools with a 6 year old here and a 5 year old next door. I don't know what they do with them either. No one ever runs over them with the lawn mower...they just vanish! |

I have a Husqvarna lawn mower, 8.75 horse. Nothing stops it. Can't wait till Spring to see if it can't nail one of those moles!! SSSCCHHHHHKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! Splash one!! When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer 'Present' or 'Not guilty.' Theodore Roosevelt |

Don't mean to get off topic; but the moles were extremely bad here this year!! |
Henhouse Dec 21, 2015 1:40 AM CST |
They're bad every year here it seems.. I've been mulching heavily because of the drought, and they just love tunneling just under it.. I had at least a few iris that weren't doing as well as I thought they should have and found tunnels all around the roots. I wish the bobcat that comes around here preferred the taste of moles, gophers and the rats that like to make a nest in my engine compartment than my chickens. Just sayin' ![]() The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

The moles were terrible here too -- still are because our ground has not yet frozen. I guess there was a bumper crop............ ![]() ![]() ![]() Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com) |

The voles are really bad here too but the cats are bringing them up for me and laying them at the front door. enidcandles said:.......I buy a lot of garden tools with a 6 year old here and a 5 year old next door. I put them in the wash as a pair and come out of the dryer as a single. As long as I have been losing socks there must be a HUGE pile of them somewhere. Socks are tricky business. I have stacks of singles in my yard-clothes closet -- waiting for the partners to show up. I'm an optimist!!! ![]() Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com) |

With my shoulder problems, I'm always on the lookout for stretchy soft socks. Easier to put on! It's been pouring here for the past couple of days, and more to come. We wanted it! Can't complain. Life is a Gift ! |

Not pouring here, we got about 1/3 of an inch in the last 24 hours. I'm not complaining, I'll gladly accept what ever we can get. I'll save the complaining for when El Niño hits. |

I think we got about an inch since yesterday morning. ![]() The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

And we're coming up on 2 inches from this latest storm - and still raining hard! Life is a Gift ! |

I bought a set of socks listed as good for diabetics (not too tight). first time they were washed, the tops were impossible to put on. I now like 'Buster Brown' socks. I wear short white ones so match pretty well. I even wear them when I cut back Siberian foliage in the fall. |

There's so much rain coming down today that my husband was afraid he wasn't going to make it home from a grocery run - downtown. Predictions are now at 4-6 inches within the next day or two. Hoping the rest of the CA iris-lovers get a good dose of rain too! Life is a Gift ! |

We got about another 2.5 inches of rain so far, and it's still raining ![]() • “Whoever said, ‘Do something right and you won’t have to do it again’ never weeded a garden.” – Anonymous |

We've had nice sunny bits down our way between the rain. I walked out by the ocean today, and it was a beautiful winter's day. There was a King tide, and the waves were outstanding. Probably 75 or so surfers out at Steamer Lane. All the hot shots were out.. fun to watch. I was able to get out in the garden for a bit this afternoon and fry a few weeds (so satisfying!) and pull a few dead leaves off some iris. It's nice to get them cleaned up down to those fresh little nubbins coming up. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

No garden time for me today. Among other things, I had to go out and wrestle with the Christmas lighting, which keeps going out (something, probably the rain, triggering the GFI). Hopefully I've got all the susceptible connections secured against the wet now, and the lights will stay up through the next rain (forecast for tomorrow). Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom |
