No rain here today. The weatherman said we might get some rain tonight and a chance that it might snow tomorrow morning.

Yesterday I made lasagna to take to a gathering tonight, and this morning I made a cheese cake already, and have it cooling for tonight as well.

So far today I have baked a Pecan Pie Cheesecake, made Peanut butter fudge, Old fashioned chocolate fudge, Peanut brittle and a couple of cheese logs (like cheese balls, only easier to serve). Still on the agenda...sugar cookies, a Turtle Cheesecake, Veggie Pizza and cooking the ham for tomorrow. Oh yes, let's not forget wrapping the gifts and I should probably decorate the tree but it just may not happen!!

Our tree is up & finally decorated. John does the ornaments at the top & the rope tinsel. I do the 'regular' tinsel. Our children can't do that because of pet cats. It looks BARE without it to this Wisconsin girl.

Yummy delights coming from the iris folk! It's probably a good
thing that Chris and I are a bit under the weather with colds. Not
eating much sugar - darn! Crying

Lucy -- I'm in agreement with you on the tinsel topic! It's a labor-intensive job though -- so I have yielded to garlands instead. But a tree really isn't properly decorated unless it is shimmering with tinsel. Sigh. Can you take a picture of yours and share it so I can at least see one?

Lori -- that's an awesome day you had yourself there! I intended to do something similar -- but instead I got to take my Mom to the doctor and then to the pharmacy to get some antibiotics. I know there won't be time tomorrow for any culinary efforts -- so I'll have to make my Christmas fudge and English Toffee next week when I make my New Years cookies!! Whistling

Jan -- I'm sorry that you and the Hub are under the weather. That's no way to spend Christmas.............. Sad Group hug

Cranberry scones (from a mix), peppermint bark (from Williams Sonoma), leftover rum cake (a friend's wife made for us), take-out Chicago style pizza for dinner (my request), and later carrot cake (in lieu of a birthday cake, as DH waited too long to order from the bakery). DH also brought back chocolate chip cookie dough, as it looks like I probably won't get around to making Christmas cookies or oatmeal cinnamon muffins.

The presents got done before dusk, for a change. (My part of it, at least - DH is still working.) DD decorated the tree yesterday (I have had zero bandwidth). I threw some lights onto a salvia shrub out back, and at least those are properly working and glimmering in the rain. (The GFIs tripped AGAIN this evening on two of three lines out front, despite all of the connection wrapping that I did. There went my beautiful display. Crying )

May you all have a pleasant evening (er, night with sweet dreams, for some of you, given the time), and a Merry Christmas.

Today I made fudge (chocolate), sharp cheddar cheese dip, w/ cut veggies (for the dip) and cheese bread to take to our neighbors party. It's been five hours since we ate and I'm still stuffed!

Lori, your amazing for making so much wonderful ness !

Polymerous, sounds like you were very busy too.

Jan hope you and Chris will feel better tomorrow!

Lucy and Mary Ann, my mom would take hours putting the tinsel on our tree when I was young. It was beautiful. When I had my first tree I followed my moms tradition but when I got Wacko (the cat) he ate the tinsel and chewed on curling ribbon on the packages. So I stopped putting tinsel on the trees and if we put bows on the presents we had to cover the bows with bowls until Christmas morning.

Mary Ann, I hope your mom is feeling better too!

Merry Christmas all.. If you guys keep posting about all these goodies, I'll have no choice but to start posting links to goodie sites you will not believe. I would start with Nuremberg Lebkuchen and Marzipan from Germany, then Swiss chocolate, then over to Greece....

I don't put tinsel on strand by strand it is group by group. John sles the rop tinsel vertically, not round & round like our daughter & childhood family did. Perhaps I can practice with my camera before NYrs. I will see.

Lucy, my mom put the tinsel on the tree in little groups, probably five to six strands in a group, then handing about 1/4 on one side and 3/4 hanging down on the other side. She been gone since 1989, so maybe next year I should pay a tribute to her and decorate my tree like she did.

Ahhhhh tinsel... I haven't done it probably since the 70's.. but I was way too anal about it. Remember how several strands would be stuck together? Most *normal* people would just hang them like that, but I'd separate each one, place them hanging evenly on each side, and of course, make sure there was an even well-balanced placement. I had someone come over one time when I was decorating and asked to help. He started flinging the tinsel on willy nilly... I nearly had a heart attack... Hilarious! Sometimes it's really hard being a Virgo. Rolling my eyes.
I think becoming a parent (and now a grandparent) loosened me up a lot. It taught me to see the bigger picture, and also to laugh at myself.. which is loads better than people laughing at you. Whistling

I have two Virgo children - much as you described yourself, Sherry. Neat, picky, slightly obsessive, but very successful, I must add. I'm sure
it was hard for them having a triple Scorpio mother!! Hilarious! (sitting here looking at all the animal hair(dogs cats) on my pants - wondering where the lint roller is)!
