It's always amazing in November to see pretty much my whole garden stuffed into a greenhouse. In previous years it took 2, 8 foot gh's to hold it all but this year I got 98% of it in one.

The pictures are a progression as it was loaded .. the first 2 pictures are of the very beginning. In the 2nd picture you can see all those one gallon pots on the ground with shelf tops on top of them. Those pots are all of the elephant ears, odd gingers like the Globba and anything else that doesn't mind being cut back to the soil line. The shelf tops I found at the thrift store. I got them because there was a lip on 3 sides so I put them on top so that water would run off to the back when I watered any plants sitting on them. That way the plants below them wouldn't get water logged and rot.

It's a jungle in there! And I'm utterly thrilled to be finding anoles. I'm hoping they will establish a whole colony like they did at the old house. I have a small window box with barely moist loose soil that is perfect for egg laying.

I love going in there .. we had one night in the upper 30's and the gh didn't get below 48 degrees with the heater thermostat set at 45 degrees. I have 2 wireless remote sensors in the front and back and can monitor the temperature from the house.

The plants that didn't fit in there are in the garage under lights. I have a temperature sensor in there as well. I won't know until it gets into the low 30's and upper 20's whether or not I'll need to heat the garage.

One more thing I need to do...find the remote sensors. Whistling We've gone through three kinds of remotes over the years. I'm not sure if we'll put up the hoop off the back of the house. I can stuff quite a bit into the hoop along the fenceline. Hate to shove the brugs in when they are just starting to bloom with our cooler weather and much needed rain. I really wish I had room for a permanent greenhouse. We just have too many oaks shading the perfect spots.
Love your greenhouse!

Thanks! Oh I hate that too when big stuff just starts to bloom when I need to cut it back! I cut down 5 pine trees at my new house last Spring because there was so much shade.

Thanks .. It always takes about a week to get it all done since I groom each plant as it goes in checking for bugs and diseases.

I wish I had that much space in my gh. Your's looks great, Anne with plenty of light and space. I have new shady spaces created by the ones who are in the sunny spaces. ugh. Time for an addition, I think? Or time for me to quit acquiring tender plants? Noooooo! Thumbs down

I changed the batteries and got my remote up and running today. Something was blocking the signal, so I had to move it here and there. The remote is wedged in the door frame of the gh. I need to move it as I know it is warmer in the gh than on the door. But I think I would lose the signal entirely if I gets moved any further. The heater thermostat is set at 55. The thermostat reads 53. It's off a tad but as long as I know about it, I guess it's OK.

Lol .. thanks .. As I said, it's hard to believe that pretty much my whole garden is in there.
