I think we all have local sites and events that we just tend to ignore. Yet, we will travel considerable distances to see sites that may be less impressive to the locals there.
I lived most of my life in Johnstown Pennsylvania and only rode the world famous Inclined Plane TWICE; my aunt lived her entire adult life in New York City and never went to the Statue of Liberty; we lived here for 10 years before we drove an hour to Gettysburg Battle Field national park. *lol* What do they say? "no prophet is honored in his own land?"
Annie and Larry,.. its so true i feel a bit better knowing i am not the only one,..i was living beside that Castle for years and never venture into it until my Son and his Wife arrived from Sweden i took them inside but never admitted it was my first visit
