Here is a place to chat about our adeniums...our trials, tribulations, and successes in growing these amazing trees. Babbling is encouraged! nodding

Here is my first seed pod...missing the opposite horn.
Thumb of 2015-12-07/Rainbow/09255d

I did not know how long it was growing there until it was already rather large. I had procrastinated wiring/securing the pod so the seeds would not blow away when pod opened. Too late...one day it was still on the tree, the next day I found the opened brown pod on the ground and no seeds in sight. Crying

To bad about the seeds. It would have been great if you had seen them before they where gone. Now there will be seedlings growing everywhere. Hopefully next time better.

My little seedlings are doing fine.

@Adeniumgirl
Your seedlings are looking mighty proud. Their height reminds me of my A. arabicum Thai Soco seedlings when newly sprouted. Here's a pic:

They look very similar I must say. Even though A. Arabicum isn't very different.
Very cute.

We've been having very nice weather lately...moderate rains every other day and great for my adeniums. Hurray! No tropical depressions or cyclones in sight. <crossed fingers> Many of my trees are once again producing flower buds. They're happy and so am I. Smiling

Sounds good @Rainbow. Especially the no cyclone part. Those must be terrible. Here it is winter now. So I keep them in the windowsill for a lot of light, and right above the heating. So they stay warm. Than they can grow nicely.
Good that your trees keep producing flowers.

Hurray! Hurray!

Looking good Thumbs up

Mine are not doing too well, I rescued one feonLowe's clearance rack but I must have rescued bugs with it. I know have thrips and I saw this brown ugly looking caterpillars on it. I never had caterpillars before.

Oh no...not good...stow-aways and hitchhikers...not good at all! Sad I had thought a few times about making sure to check over a plant that I buy to make sure there are no critters, but I always seem to forget to do so.

@GigiPlumeria Glad you found the caterpillar. As to the thrips, if I'm not mistaken, they also live within the soil. I wonder if you had already dunked the plant, pot and all, into a solution of hydrogen peroxide. I think I read somewhere that this is a treatment for critters found hanging about the roots, but not sure. Hopefully someone will chime in to enlighten about thrips and how to eradicate or at least control infestation. I'm all ears!

The last time I planted seeds was in July when I planted Thai Soco KHZ “Shada.” I have finally gotten around to planting more seeds. Here are pics of flowers I hope to grow.

Granted, the plants have very low chances of being true to parent, but I still hope for the best as the seeds came from a reputable vendor.

Gorgeous @Rainbow. The chance that they grow true to parent is small I know. I too hope they will be alike. After all you pic seed because you like the parent plant. It is wait and see I guess.

So pretty, @Rainbow. I don't have much experience with seeds, except for one batch from last year that haven't bloomed yet. Will the plants from seed even be the same color? Will the caudex on the babies resemble the parent? So interesting to watch them grow from seeds!

Ibis, the first seeds I grew last year did not come true to parents, but they are pretty nonetheless. Here are some of my first blooms.

As far as the caudex goes...no two are alike. They grow into all kinds of forms and shapes and even textures and colors.

I had planted over 200 seeds and did not track which seedlings came from which batch. So I really don't know whether they had the same color. All I know is my flowers don't match any of the pictures that came with the seeds.

Yes, I agree that they are interesting to watch grow. They are such amazing trees!

My 4 month old seedlings are teeny-tiny babies, not as robust as yours and others 4 month old babies. Of course I haven't been fussing with them but I do hope to see them bloom next year.
