Thank you Greg. They are gorgeous. As much trouble as I have growing roses successfully I really love them. There is nothing like a rose. |
Wow, wow! Thank you, Greg. Some names can be guessed easily. That combination plant, for instance, probably is Iceberg and Burgundy Iceberg, a popular combo in these parts. |

Those are beautiful! I wondered about the bi-color rose; I would be interested to hear some more guesses for the others. Porkpal |

Pretty sure the Yellow one, 7th from the top is 'Gina Lollobrigida' there were several different signs by this bloom but comparing this to ATP database, it looks like that. ![]() |
It does look like Gina Lollobrigida. The last one looks like 'The Pilgrim.' Does that sound familiar? The red one looks like 'Don Juan,' and could the mauve one be 'Koko Loco'? |

Zuzu I only remember Gina Lollobrigida because well its Gina! ![]() |

Zuzu thank you so much for adding this to database!!! ![]() |
My pleasure, Greg. ![]() |
Greg, earlier this year, shortly before her 88th birthday, Gina Lollobrigida filed forgery charges against her ex-boyfriend. He's 53. She's still stunning and she still refers to herself in the third person. ![]() |

It sounds as if she is decidedly worthy of a rose bearing her name. Porkpal |
At least a rose. |

Oh yes! It is funny to hear that, Zuzu - yet also sad because seniors can be so vulnerable! ![]() ![]() |

Greg, some really beautiful pictures! Where is Huntington Gardens? Thanks "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding . In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 |

Hi Julie, it is in Pasadena CA north of Los Angeles, an amazing place!! ![]() |

@Greg and Julie and others: In addition to the Huntington Gardens, there is also Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Ca. It is the largest memorial park in North America consisting of over 1400 acres with spectacular views of Los Angeles, as well as the San Gabriel Valley. The Pageant of Roses Garden takes up 3.5 acres and has over 600 varieties of roses. A definite "must see" when the roses are in bloom...and given our crazy weather lately, that could be at any time lol. |

Thanks for sharing your pictures, Greg. The Huntington is in San Marino, a community next to Pasadena. My ex was from Pasadena, and we went down there often. Going to the Huntington made the trip worthwhile.. The Rose garden is one of the best. There's also Descanso Gardens nearby in Alta Dena.. They've got a pretty rose garden, although I think when I was there, it was still early for the roses.. It was a lot lower key than Huntington... fewer people. I enjoyed that. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

Thanks for letting me know. I am taking my son to Huntington Beach next May for his graduation trip! My son is a big fan of the musical group Avenged Sevenfold, so that's where he chose to go! Trying to plan things to do besides the local tourist attractions. I love natural places rather than man-made tourist places! We plan to go whale-watching, to La Brea Tar Pits, for me. Trying to keep travel local because of the cost of taxis! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding . In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 |

Sherry ... you can forget the Descanso rose gardens. The historical rose beds have all been torn up and most of the roses disposed of as trash. That's so sad since many of those roses were quite rare and may never be found in any other garden again. I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer. |
