We're growing this one and true to form it is smaller...so far and thats a good thing. Our others are quite large and this smaller statured one will be easier to fit into more heavily planted areas. It bloomed lightly this year even though it was just fifteen or so inches tall. It's planted between two S. Clevelandii that dwarf it. I'll be interested to see just how small it stays. These receive only rain water and do just fine even through the drought. I trimmed of all the seed heads this week and about the top third of the growth below those. New growth is already at the leaf nodes. This could have been done closer to spring to leave the good looking seed heads for winter interest. We also grow Salvia clevelandii 'Allen Chickering' that is also somewhat smaller than S clevelandii but bigger that S. clevelandii 'Winnifred Gilman'. Here she is.

@HamiltonSquare Leslieray,

Beautiful and healthy salvia. I see you left a seedpod attached (with some of the others around on the ground).

If you like to add your photo to the database. Here's the link.
