Hey ..

I have always been somewhat of a 'weather maven' .. love talking about it, whether the talk be good or bad ..

I live in Northern Canada, and, it seems the weather is always on our minds.
Obviously in the winter it's the snow and frigid temps, and, in summer our heat and humidity.
Always blows my mind how our plants survive sleeping under that snow, or, how the dang mosquitoes and blackflies make it year after year.

Anyway .. since GLOBAL WARMING, and CLIMATE are worldwide issues, perhaps we can chat about what's happening in our corners of the world

Today in THUNDER BAY, it is cold .. 5F with a north wind .. light snow, but sunny as well ..

Cold, cloudy and windy as heck. Weather liars saying we will get ice starting tonight then 1-3 inches of snow on top of that.

I've got my windshield and driver's door covered in plastic and Wal-Mart bags on my mirrors. Usually use a tarp that can cover both doors but they're hiding somewhere and I had to get covered before it gets dark.

Equaled another record high today - five days in a row now. 86..... silly in December.... The a/c has hardly been off at all this year.

Marilynne, I'm in Florida and it was 84ºF here today. It still feels like summer but a cold front is supposed to come through next weekend to cool us off a bit. We don't get the white stuff this far south.

@pepper23 Amanda, won't that plastic freeze to the glass????

OH just BRRRRR...we don't have a shivering little blue emoticon but dang that is cold. It is 82F here, overcast with the odd quick shower and windy....gosh, our forecast is like a broken record... and we are breaking a few.

But, at least we don't have to shovel snow

Actually we just heard on the news that we BROKE a record high - we made 87 today, and the previous record was 86 set in 1942...

In my part of the world ,methods of shoveling snow have almost become Olympic Games challenges ..
Shovels with special handles, snow blowers, scoops, brooms .. my FAVE though, is the little plow we use .. mind you, it doesn't do the sidewalks and patio, but, it's nice to get out and do that and let the dogs play ..

We 'almost' had a green Christmas .. lots of temp records set in November and into Dec ..then we had rain, which froze (thinkin boutcha on that one Amanda) .. then snow overtop .. DANGEROUS

BUT the sight of that full moon on Christmas .. well .. amazing

Plastic will only freeze onto a something if rain or snow gets under it. Saves a lot of time in mornings when weather is bad like this. I refuse to get up before 4am just to clean my vehicle.

We were at my sisters home in Sebastian, Fl for Christmas and I got pictures of the moon on Christmas eve and it sure was pretty but I totally forgot to take pictures Friday night, 12/25 when it was at it's fullest.

LOL, I can't imagine shoveling snow!

The full moon on Christmas was gorgeous... we were at my husband's sister's house, which is right on L. Michigan; I tried to get a picture of it, but didn't have a tripod and didn't have the camera where I could adjust the shutter speed, so didn't work out so well.

Lin, shoveling is really fun... if we ever get some snow I'll invite you here and you can give it a try! (if you do a real good job with the shovel we might let you use the snowblower ) One year my BIL from Florida was visiting in late January and stayed at our house while we left for a weekend bowling tournament; we weren't expecting a snowstorm but got one anyway, and he was out snowblowing the driveway before we got home. What a trooper! (I think that was the same year that we had recently taken in a stray cat that ended up coming into heat just before we left... the "caterwauling" alone would have been bad, but then our husky would start howling as well )

I'm still waiting to see what the weather is going to hit us with as a payback for all this time without snow; shoot, I've only had my heavy jacket out once so far! and haven't needed boots yet, at all

What little I can see now looks like thick ice and very, very little snow on the deck. Not sure if I'm going to work or not.

Watched the weather channel last night .. sheesh .. poor Texas !! As well .. Northern England and some countries in South America!
Floods, tornadoes .. awful ..
This morning we are at +6F .. with wind which makes it feel colder .. glad I'm not a dog !!

Lin. .. My parents had (have) friends in Sebastian .. lived on Persian Lane .. after my Dad passed, my Mom spent several winters with them .. a beautiful place .
My Mom has gone now, and I am sure the folks she stayed with have too .. they weren't young ..

@Weedwhacker Sandy, Did your brother in law ever come back for another visit? I don't think I'd be very good at shoveling snow or snow blowing ... but I think it would be a blast to be build a snowman!

@pepper23 Amanda, that ice sounds scary ... stay safe. If I lived in the north I'd have to hibernate all winter.

Marilynne, it's a small world isn't it? Persian Lane in Sebastian, Fl is right off of state road 512, less than a mile from my house is in Sebastian. I love the Sebastian area ... it's a lot quieter than here in Daytona Beach where my husband and I have lived for almost 43 years and I know that I will love living right down the street from my sister! We haven't lived near each other in almost 50 years!

Snowing here, soft and gentle, but, the cold still bites yer cheeks !!
Will be going out in the ATV in a bit to bring more wood up to the house for the woodstove .. have to have some coffee first and put dinner together ..

The families name is 'Stan and Jean Sculthorpe', they have a son, Keith (special needs) .. just wonderful folks .. they moved from Deerfield Beach to Sebastian ..beautiful home ..

Sandy, your BIL probably didn't mind the shoveling/snow blowing .. ONCE
It's when ya have to go out every 2 hours or so .. gets to be a game as to where you'll put the dang stuff, and the dogs just get crazier running through it and enjoying

77ºF here and a bit overcast ... heading out to mow the lawn shortly.

Cold here, freezing rain and wind. So glad I asked for a vacation day today earlier this month. Just staying holed up in the house today. The dogs keep asking to go out, and enjoy the cold, but then I have cold, wet pups when they finally come back inside.

Currently 80ºF here ... and sunny. I mowed the lawn and edged and hubby did the trimming and blowing of the walkways and driveway. It's been so dry here, I thought we might get some rain today because it was cloudy and overcast with showers reported off the coast but nope, the rain passed us by do I guess we'll have to set the irrigation system to kick on early tomorrow a.m.
