HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
I was at the Sarasota show too...as a vendor! Somehow I missed Lindsey, but I got to see Elaine and her friends, and she even bought one of my baskets (THANKS Elaine!).
Funny how some of the same orchids that stood out to others also stood out to me (the first two!)...
I must confess to doing a little shopping along with my selling...
I'm most excited about this one...the flowers are almost black! I can't wait till they open!
My friend won this one in a raffle so I brought it home for her.
I didn't catch a name for this one (and I didn't buy it) but I thought it was very unique!
Here's what my booth looked like (I'll also be at the Selby show/sale in Feb. which is a GREAT one!)
Patty, your booth looks interesting, you are selling nice looking baskets!
It would be tough to go to a pretty Show like that and not pick up something!
Nice pictures too, I think that last one might be a Pleurothallis.
Patty , I was the one with the 3 page wish list...a woman on a mission...I only looked at the plants..
Nice friend I am!
I hope you had ( despite no help from me!) a great show...it was pretty crowded while I was there Saturday 10 - 12..I had to park in the next zip code!

Alice, thanks for the link to Vintage Green. He had an orchid I've been looking for - the Bamboo Orchid, Arundina bambusifolia. So I bought that, and then . . . Somehow a couple of Brugs, two Iochromas, two Abutilons and maybe a Cordyline jumped into the cart! All the way from Hawaii!
Thankfully, you're right, the shipping really wasn't bad at all for 2nd day air from Hawaii. That's a good deal they made with FedEx.
Now, maybe we could initiate a new personal award? "Enabler of the Day" ? I nominate Alice for our first honoree.

LOL, , glad to be of service.
I have been making a list to order from him myself. However, I do plan to wait until warm weather before ordering anything that needs protection. It is supposed to get cold here tonight and tomorrow and I just finished hauling all the trops in.

Thanks for all the compliments on my display everyone! I made out okay, though there were LOTS of people like Lindsey that were only looking at plants...
Lindsey, I'm just sorry I missed seeing you! How many plants did you go home with this time? Make a decent dent in that 3 page wish-list of yours?? I thought I was very restrained with my few purchases...of course I didn't have as much time to shop as usual either...lol!
I got 3 ( I think ) on my list..one impulse buy and one for my sister.. I got Rech? France's Fox ' Sun Spots' for each of us..and those were budget busters..my normal limit is $35.. These were in bloom for $50 each.
It was a spur of the moment trip for me..I'm allegedly saving for the tamiami show at the end of the month!
Only 3 from the list with all those gorgeous orchids? I'm surprised at you! I could have easily bought dozens of orchids if only the wallet was a little fatter! lol!
Where is this Tamiami show?
If you've never been to the Selby Gardens show, it's really nice...all kinds of plant vendors (not just orchids) and you can check out the orchid house (which I LOVE to go through every time I'm there) and stroll the beautiful gardens. I've gone every year as a patron, this will be my first time as a vendor. It's the last weekend of February.
The wallet IS THE PROBLEM !
I do enjoy hunting for specific plants that I had great success with in the past or just plain loved...I'm always seeing new to me flowers on line in forum like this one...if one catches my eye ..it'll go on the list. at the end of my show shopping..if the wallet has even a hint of green in it .I will then splurge on some impulse buy...ask Jim...I left Apopka with ZERO in my wallet..I couldn't even offer to kick in with the gas bill...( he did say I could take him to lunch at the catfish place next time we all go!)
Tamiami is at the Dade County Fairgrounds Expo Center
10901 Coral Way ( S. W. 24th St.

I know EXACTLY what you mean Lindsey! My orchid addiction has busted the bank and I am now looking for a part-time job!
I rarely (maybe 3 times in the 34 years I've lived in FL) get to the southern part of the other coast...will have to skip this as well, I have 2 shows coming up back-to-back for the last two weekends of the month, one in Venice at the Rotary Club and the other at the Phillipi Creek Mansion for Winterfest. Hope you have fun though, and find LOTS of things on your list!

I'm with you Patty, no amount of orchids is going to entice me to drive around Miami any more. Although I love driving, that traffic is insane. It's possible I'll get to the Redlands show one of these days since it's not in tourist season, so the traffic is better.
We used to go every year to a regatta at Coconut Grove Sailing Club, and although the regatta was usually terrific, and free entry fee, the hassle, parking, and traffic just discouraged us every year. The last straw was when our friends had their SUV stolen out of the "secure" parking lot at their hotel, c/w all their sailing gear including the sails for their boat in it.

I towed a boat through Miami once on our way to the Keys. I can't remember why I was doing the driving but I vividly remember the sheer panic driving those crowded roads. Of course, if you don't go near Miami you miss out on Palm Hammock. http://www.palmhammockorchides...
