What a wonderful show, Ursula! Thanks for posting all the pictures - I could spend all day looking through those! You picked up some beauties Drooling Which one is the orchid with the striped leaves? Very cool that you were able to find Ancistrochilus rothschildianus - I don't think I've ever seen that one before. Such unusual pseudobulbs Thumbs up

Wait! Isn't there a stunning Cymbidium in there with striped leaves too? That one really caught my eye - it's on the right, 6 rows down in your pictures right below the first shot of the Den. nobile.

Sadly, I always want the ones I can't grow. I must restrain myself from buying any more Cymbidiums because they really don't bloom all that well here for me.

Can't wait to see your new babies blooming Ursula. Sounds like you got some interesting ones.

Ursula, the leaves of your Spathoglottis are different than the ones on my plants. The leaves on mine are shorter, broader, and have more curvature. I could not tell whether your plant has an inflo. Practically all of mine (a dozen or so) are growing inflo and several have grown offsets.

Ken, yours look terrific, the leaf pattern is just a bit different too from this newcomer. There is a spike about an inch or so, can't wait to see this one blooming.

Elaine, there were quite a few of the variegated Cymbies for sale also. These beautiful Chinese Cyms don't bloom for me, unfortunately, so nowadays I admire the plants and that's it.

I just got my weekend pass for the Tamiami Show...how lucky for me that my sister lives just down the street?
She even has her old stewardess wheels that I can put one of my large Brent and Becky's Bulbs crate on...I'm
trying to figure out how to mount a fire extinguisher to the side of the crate or wheels handle..in case 2 sets of
shopping shoes spontaneously combust. Whistling

I thought Jim was working on it after one of your trips to Apopka...
I checked out some of the vendors websites and am hoping to have a bunch of plants from Carmela,
H & R and Kawamoto waiting for me to pick up..then I can relax and just do impulse shopping!
Have any of you ever pre-ordered before a show? I'm wondering if they will let you collect them before
the show?

Carmela is generally who I get my flasks, compots, and seedlings from. Of course everything is shipped from their Hawaiian nursery. I need to contact them as well as the other nurseries I purchase from (all in Hawaii) and see if they will be at the Asheville show in April. I can place some orders before the show and (perhaps) save on shipping charges. I don't know if they'll bring plants that are pre-ordered and pre-paid or not. I'll find out.

Getting back to Ursula's loot, I looked everything up and there are indeed some great orchids there. A couple of name changes to be aware of: The Neostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray is now Vandachostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray. The Oeoniella is spelled polystachys instead of "is". I could find no record of the Vanda cross being registered so you are still stuck with both names. Great flower on the Vanda ustii. I saw pictures of the Pecteilis sagarikii with a nice yellow lip and also without the yellow. I hope yours has that yellow lip. I'm also very fond of the flower on the Trichopilia. Beautiful choices , my friend.

Thanks Jim! Much appreciated!
The Pecteilis sagarikii looks like a very cute duck face....

These are my pictures from 2009 after trying for many years to get it to bloom!! I believe I had it blooming for two seasons. This one is a small corm right now which needs to be planted. It is kind of a crapshoot for me to get this one going, similar to some Habenarias.
(I added the corrections into my loot list!)

My house guests have gone out for a ramble so now I get to investigate the news. Lots of leaves and palm fronds lying around, but no sign of damage in my neighborhood.
