Is it just me, or is there a total lack of articles in the newsletter for the last month, maybe longer? Maybe I'm just dumb and I'm not clicking on something, but all I'm getting in my newsletters are pictures. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE pictures, but I also love the articles. I couldn't wait every week to see what would be in the newsletter, because I always learn a lot of useful things from the articles in the newsletter.

Now I'm sure there are plenty of articles that have been submitted that could be published in the newsletter, because I know we have a lot of talented folks in the membership who have shared their experiences. I just wonder if anyone else is missing the articles as much as I am??

Dave and I have been experimenting with ideas and thinking of new ideas for the articles/tips/ideas.

One thing we know for sure, we will no longer be featuring a new article daily.

The rest of the details haven't been ironed out yet Whistling

Is the plan to be a plant site featuring mostly pretty pictures? What happened to educating others? Sharing knowledge about plants?

The articles and ideas are how we share knowledge. There is a lot to learn from what is written by the members. I look forward to each idea and article and they would be sorely missed if they were to disappear completely or happen less often.

Examples:
- How would I have learned all there is to know about growing garlic if not for the articles by @drdawg?
- Without the article by @Dutchlady1 I'd be one of the uninformed who call a Wardian case by the wrong name (Edwardian *Blush* ).
- Then there is @Paul2032 submits tons of images but also kept us fascinated reading his Fascinating Fasciation.

While I do not subscribe to the newsletter due to time constraints, and my ears won't allow me to enjoy the podcasts, I sure do look forward to reading and learning from each new article and idea. I hope that with over 30,000 members there are enough items written to keep this going. Thumbs up

Someone suggested that I post an article on a couple of subjects. Since winter is my "down-time" season, I will try to get something done soon in that regard.

I tip my hat to you. @greene

Winter is a "down time" for lots of folks. This is a good time to curl up with a good book....or an ATP article...and learn to be a better grower/gardener/farmer/propagator or whatever. Thumbs up

My favorite on the home page is the new comments added to the database. My least favorite is the daily daylily. After checking updated forums, I just scroll past the stuff that doesn' t grab me. Then I usually work on My List.

I do enjoy the articles and hope they become prominent again.

Obviously I enjoy articles and tips, too, and love contributing to them. Maybe we could have them on designated days of the week, maybe Monday and Friday. They'd be in the newsletter for those who don't read them on the specific days as well. I enjoy the home page, all of it, but I have been missing that early morning reading habit I have had all these years.

I haven't been paying any attention to the right side of the screen for a while and agree with Debs comment about the daily daylily etc. Recent Discussions from the photo contest currently has one comment from today, 2 from yesterday, and the rest are several days old so no fresh interest there. Maybe you ought to eliminate the "submit a new article" in Ideas and Articles until a decision is made.I'm certain it is nearly impossible to please us all but thanks for trying Thank You!

I like the articles, too, but I had noticed that some were getting a little thin on written content and were mostly photos. We need to clone Sharon so that she can write an article every single day! Hilarious! (and some of the other great writers, too!)

I just had an idea that might be kind of fun for "filler" this winter. Since people are starting to sow their seeds for spring we could have a "Seedling Saturday" or "Seedling Sunday." During the week, people could submit photos of a seedling in the cotyledon stage (or first-leaf stage at most.) On the chosen day, 10 or less photos could be featured with the plants' names initially hidden. Perhaps a mouse-over would reveal the name (or some other method.) It might be a fun way for people to practice their seedling ID skills or start learning them. It might start conversations about the various seedlings and , hopefully, the photos' submitters could be involved with that. I'm sure that some of the seedlings would be from seeds obtained in the new ATP Seed Swaps so it may also bring some attention to that feature. Just a thought. I like trivia and games so it is the sort of thing that would appeal to me but I can't speak for anyone else. Shrug!

I guess I better contact Dave or Trish before working on any new articles. If it/they won't be published, it will have been wasted time and effort. I still have plenty to do to keep me busy. Whistling
