My wife brought home this cutting from a friend. I don't have an ID but I was told it was a succulent. My question-- how do I care for this at this time of the year? I have it inside as the temps will get into the upper 30's here tonight. Do I let it callus over? Plant in a well draining potting mix? Please give me some ideas as it is an attractive plant.

This is Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi . It is a super easy and hardy plant. Just stick it in dirt to root and it will grow.

Oh, and it already has roots on it so it should take off in no time at all. It will freeze so keep indoors through winter. It is more colorful and compact with full sun, but can be grown in almost any condition from my experience.

How is your new plant doing?

I ended up with two cuttings and both are doing fine, I know they will do better once the weather heats up. It has some color to it.

YW. I do find these plants fascinating. Looks great! I think you'll really be impressed with it this summer. :+)

If you need (or want) to remove a leaf, lay it on the ground. Watching the babies form is always fun to me.
