The photos in the database do not look like the same semp - Lynn, your pic looks smooth while the others have a little bit of cilia. I know we talked about Nightwood before but don't remember and can't find the thread...

Thank you for bringing this up Patty. I have a feeling that the should look more like this.
Jan 20, 2016 10:14 PM CST
That looks like what I have. Although I also have the other one which I call 'Fernwood's Nightwood'
Jan 21, 2016 10:40 AM CST
So then Lynn's photo is the poser? I don't see the cilia on it like the others.
Jan 21, 2016 10:52 AM CST
I think I took that photo at Kevin's place.
Jan 21, 2016 11:22 AM CST
Oh, I think he said that's the imposter. He wanted SMG to call it SMG Nightwood I think, b/c it's too purdy to be a noid.
Jan 21, 2016 2:03 PM CST
May I see a picture of the one which was taken at Kevin's? Which I take it is an "imposter" (OH NO)
I like to see things side by side... so if someone could post side by side Real vs imposter it is helpful.
From this discussion are you saying that all the pics in the DB are wrong? I am a bit slow these days and just trying to keep up.
Jan 21, 2016 4:34 PM CST
Check the database and see what you think.
Jan 21, 2016 6:36 PM CST
Ok I looked at the link and saw this. ( I web clipped a bit of it to show it here) Is that a no no?
These are the 3 in the DB none taken by @valleylynn
Am I missing something?
Gregs looks to have thinner leaves than Bev (aka websemps) but???? Allowing for differences in growing environments and times of year etc... Couldn't these all be the same plant?
Jan 21, 2016 8:34 PM CST
Yes Marilyn, Bev gave me my plant, so the only differences are probably age of plant - as Bev's gets older it is changing and mine follows To my mind, this is the correct plant.
I also got one from Kevin that he calls "SMG Nightwood" - I don't have a photo of it. The actual Nightwood (which is what is in the database) is prettier to me My own opinion. But I only got the other plant late last summer so it may surprise me this spring!
Jan 21, 2016 10:44 PM CST
But does Kevin's look very different? I keep thinking there is a missing picture referred to by Lynn that she took at Kevin's home?
Jan 22, 2016 1:02 AM CST
yes there is a missing photo!! SMG's is totally different, smooth and a different color
Jan 22, 2016 9:50 AM CST
I removed the photo I took at Kevin's place.
Jan 22, 2016 12:19 PM CST
Can you put it here so I can see what the imposter looks like? Pretty please.
Jan 22, 2016 3:16 PM CST
Here you go Marilyn, I finally found it on my computer.
It is beautiful, but as you can see it has no tufting at the tip of the leaves.
Jan 22, 2016 3:22 PM CST
Pretty though and you are right not fuzzy at all Now this thread makes sense.
Jan 22, 2016 3:31 PM CST
Also in the fall mine turned more green and the real Nightwood stays reddish!
Jan 22, 2016 3:44 PM CST
So nobody has the true 'Nightwood'? All of them are imposters?
Jan 22, 2016 9:01 PM CST
I have the true (from @webesemps) if she kept some of the plant then she has some too, and I may have given some to Patty and or Julia can't remember that part. So I have both real and impostor!
Jan 22, 2016 9:08 PM CST
Nope my Nightwood bit the dust in CA and the red coloring did not stay in the cooler weather.
