Today marks the first day of National Honey Month. What are you using honey for this month? |

In our coffee every morning & afternoon. On biscuits, on toast. I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown ~~ |
Ann I'm going to have to tell my brother to put it in his coffee. The man dumps so much sugar in his coffee it's half coffee and half sugar. |
What foods do you add honey to? For breakfast, lunch and dinner. |

Yeh Mindy, I know just how he likes it but it's better with honey! We like it hot, strong & thick with honey. UM, UM, GOOD! We are big iced tea drinkers too & when we were working bees & the honey was free we used it in our tea. Without it being free it's too expensive to use it in a gallon jug of tea every day. Sigh..... I was just thinking that yesterday. If I had buy it to use it everyday I probably wouldn't. I like it in milk as subsitute for chocolate milk and in cereal. Didn't like it so well in black cherry koolaid but that was probably due to the flavor of the honey might taste great with a different one. |

Wow. You're really experimenting aren't you? That reminds me --- I use it in warm vanilla milk instead of using sugar. Honey is also good on wounds as an antibacterial. Isn't honey COOL? ![]() ![]() I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. I'll be covering some of the medical uses of honey in a future article so stay tuned for that one. How often do you all use honey for beauty purposes? |
Which would you rather be? Queen Drone Worker |

Why? She's the shortest lived of them all |

But she has freedom like none of the others do. I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown ~~ |
True and I suppose getting to poke around in those sweet smelling flowers must be nice too. |

You got it! Well, it's like this... the drones get killed off so I don't want to be one of those. The queen, while waited on hand & foot, still is more or less confined to the hive laying eggs all day which does not sound appealing to me. So, yes, buzzing around in the open air, visiting flowers & feeling freedom sounds better than the alternatives. What about you Mindy? What would you like to be? Per the original question, I will be using honey this month (and always do) on my toast along with some peanut butter ![]() |
Hi Maridell. Is that the only way you use honey? Ann uses it in coffee and on biscuits. I like it in milk, cereal and on peanut butter. Ann I'd much rather be a worker too. I bet no one wants to be her royal highness or a drone. Wonder if the menfolks would think the drone's life would be great? A life of leisure in the hive, hanging out with the guys waiting for a young female to come by, high speed chase to catch her and the the fun of catching her. |

Hmmmm.... interesting question. I think the answer might depend on how much the particular manfolk knew about what happens to the drones. My DH is watching a movie right now but when I get a chance i will ask him. He knows what happens to drones so his answer will be based on knowledge of that info. but it will be interesting to see what he says. Oh Mindy & Maridell --- I forgot all about having it with peanut butter! YUM! We once had some honey that a friend brought back from a trip to N.C. & it was stricktly from plum blossoms. It was deep purple in coloration & I swear it was THE most delicious thing I ever put in my mouth EVER! I have looked for pure plum blossom honey ever since & never found any or heard of any one else who has had any. Have any of you ever had it or heard of it? My DH knows too and he definitely does not like the idea of being a drone ![]() |

About the only other way I use honey is for oatmeal, that's yummy too. A little in tea might be nice... |
