Name: Toni Denver Metro (Zone 5a) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
This is actually from the blooming season last year.. Looks like 4/15/15 is when I took that picture. This is of a "common purple" lilac that's probably.. oh.. 30? 35? years old. He's a HUGE bush that I really really need to trim down, but I've just be so lazy.. he's in the corner of my front yard. The fence is a 6' privacy fence that he peeks over.
No where near blooming time yet. Probably not for another month & half. Should get a good season this year w/all the snow we had earlier. You definitely need to winterwater these badboys if you want good blooms in the spring. But I neglect this plant so horribly.. I never water/feed it.. he sits in some of the worst soil on the planet, he's got riverrock underneath him and ever year, I get tons & tons of blooms.
Nice banner, Toni! And like several said, you can just about smell that photo! Yum! We have one next to the front door that has the really deep purple blooms. Some times I open the door just to take a sniff!
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
I don't think I've ever seen so many blooms on a lilac! That looks like a very happy lilac, not a neglected one. Maybe I need to start dumping bad soil around mine.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Hi Mary,
I have no idea which one it is, but it's purple and I love it. The drought over the last couple of years has taken it's toll it (and several other plants and trees).
