Is there a particular Asarina that is easiest to grow? Have never grown them before and am wondering about the best easiest way to grow them. Do they do well with direct sowing? Our days have been in the 80's and nights around 50 for the past few weeks. for any help!

Wanted to start off right since I've never grown it.

I have the purple one which I happened upon at a nursery in a 4" pot. It was very small but healthy.
I planted it on one side of an arbor in full sun and within a year it had covered the arbor, but had very few blooms. When the heat of summer came along it fried so I tore it out. Then a few seedlings appeared so I dug them up and moved them to another arbor which only gets morning sun and it did infinitely better and has now covered that arbor.
It's just now getting flower buds on it. It did get a touch of frost damage but recovered well.
Being that you're in Az. you may want to protect your from hot afternoon sun.

@Calsurf73 Mike...good information. Full sun means different things in different zones, that is for sure. Afternoon sun can be brutal here in the summer. Will definitely remember what you said. Glad you did not give up and now have a nicely covered arbor
