I do think this is a stunning hybrid. I have now a few seedling plants from which I hope to take cuttings to give some to fellow enthusiasts later this year.

I requested a parent plant entry for Cleistocactus genus. If it's a hybrid that would be a good place for the pic unless/until a specific hybrid name might be found.

I am sorry, but the cuttings didn't root -- we will try again this summer.

It's not a problem, James. None of us are in a rush. I just had some cuttings not root for me.

The parent plant is in a friend's green house and the cuttings were watered too much before they were properly rooted -- I was unable to be with them due to a bad leg edema episode. My edema has worsened considerably in recent months which interferes with my normal activities -- I cannot stand or sit for very long, thus my short messages (darn it ).

That's a bummer. I've had bouts of that and know it's no fun. I can't stand it when things interfere with my normal routine and activities. Good luck and hope it will resolve soon, James.
