I bought a couple from Costco in 2012, they were the tiniest things, neither one has bloomed yet. I now only buy them potted up, preferably in 1 gal., from local nurseries, or good online ones like Brushwood's. I got a couple from Lowes that same year and they have done much better. Hope yours do well. Give them compost and a drink of epsom salts.

And don't be afraid to cut them back the first year or two. Let the energy go to the roots. My micro plants from Sam's and Lowes took 3 years to bloom.

So sad, lost two of the three baby "Blue Light" from hailstorm and pretty good size from another clematis broken and damage...

Have a wonderful Easter everyone,

It shouldn't mean they are dead. They will sprout again: keep the faith! A hailstorm (or 10 hailstorms) won't kill the roots.

Happy Easter!

Thumbs up you are right, just sad because I watched the little plants grow bit bigger everyday and in seconds the awful hails whacked it...

I totally agree with you. We gardeners always want progress but sometimes the weather seems to reverse the process. Give them a good drink of Epsom Salt - one tablespoon of the ES to one gallon of lukewarm water. Divide it between the two clem's. The ES promotos more "basal growth" (new shoots). You should see results quickly in spring. Good luck!

So pretty and the contrast, with the color of the bark, is lovely.
