Shape,
Absolutely fantastic!! Did you use a wood burning tool to carve out the brick and stone details on the insulation board?

Our local home and garden stores don't stock the pink rigid insulation board, and said it was more expensive than the green or blue boards when ordered....geeeez! I found a store in another town about an hour away that I can order it through and not as expensive. So, as soon as the weather and my schedule ease up, I hope to get to play and experiment a little with this method.

Thank you so much for sharing all your beautiful inspiring projects with us here! Thank You!

I use a Variac and a soldering iron to carve all the detail..The Variac will let you control the temperature of the soldering iron and will give you professional results...I also use industrial strength liquid nail for my glue..My everything is put together with it...And I pay 15 dollars for a 4x8 sheet..And here is a picture of my Variac.......................

Thank you! Im almost ready to reveal the completed Hobbit Hole, was just waiting in the ground cover to completely cover everything..Should be ready this weekend...And you was wondering about the detail of the house...I started out carving those little gardens with a razor blade. Then one day I was reading a blog about foam cutting and the guy explained why you need the Variac...It completely changed the way I do things now.. This just shows you that if you use the internet in a constructive way it also is a great tool..I just hope that they never try to take it from us..

Oh! That is simply adorable! The plants really do set it off to look realistic. I think once the painted door fades a little, it will really look like some small elf lives there! (Or Hobbit or Garden Fairy!)

Really wonderful how each project you do turns out! You really do have a gift, Shape! Hurray!

The Hobbit house looks fantastic, like it really belongs in the space!!! Is there a roof on the top covered with plants, or is it hollow and filled with soil?

Awesome job!!

There is a roof and I kinda punched myself because I spent hours carving every shingle just to cover it up.hahaha You can go back to the first picture on this thread and see how much roof I did cover up...
