I've been searching for a 'Frilly Dilly' Begonia for years. I've posted on Yahoo & various sites. If you can be of any assistance in finding I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks
Lavonn

Welcome to ATP! Welcome!

I checked some of the online shops I buy from and it looks like it's going to be a tough one to find. The only photo I found was in a language I don't speak. (the letters were in a language I don't speak)

Even Ebay failed to find anything claiming to be 'Frilly Dilly'. Smiling

Your search may have to go on.....

Sorry. Shrug!

Have you tried contacting these folks? Someone there may be able to help you, either to find it or may know why it has virtually disappeared.

Wow. I often wonder when plants disappear like that if it isn't due to problems with the hybridizing. A weak parent plant, or disease prone, etc. Shrug!

I also wonder since it seems to have never been registered under that name if it is possible that it may have been registered under a different name. Did you ask the folks at Palm Hammock who their source for Frilly Dilly was originally? Maybe they know who the hybridizer/grower is.

Good Luck, I hope you find it. Crossing Fingers!

It was registered in 1994 by Dorothy Caviness. It is listed as a semp type fibrous begonia hybrid. Its also considered an annual. I can't find any information that it was ever produced commercially but peple are talking about owning one up until about 2004. Then it seems to fade from existence. Sad

Hey Lavonn, I remember a post on another site that said you found Frilly Dilly at the Muskogee plant sale. You might want to check out the ABS Dorothy Caviness Branch in Bartlesville OK. If that branch is still in existence, you may get a better response there.

I did find mention in one of the numerous sites, that Clifford "Gene" (deceased) and Anna Price Salisbury (former ABS President) had Dorothy Caviness's entire collection, but had done little toward distribution. I believe it mentioned her living in Blackwell OK. (I think it was Brad Thompson on the Yahoo Begonia site, but I am unsure of the year of those post)

I wrote to the only Oklahoma Branch listed. I think it was Fred Barkley. Haven't heard anything. Didn't see an email for the Dorothy Caviness Branch. Thanks.
