And what is up with Clinton? Look at the strange spots on the leaves. It's not hail damage or insect damage. Actually, there is no damage, just the spots. ![]() Finally got a picture of Mars Cubits Store: The Sempervivum Patch - plants, containers, accessories! Wow Chris, Mars is absolutely gorgeous. Wonder if that is the way Clinton starts it's color change? I don't have that one so don't know. It is sure interesting. Can you get a close up of it? |
I'll try to get a close up after work today. Cubits Store: The Sempervivum Patch - plants, containers, accessories! Also stop by Timber Treasures and Garden Buddies on Cubits |

I see a lot of different heuff's showing spots like that and have always assumed it was insect damage of some sort. My assumption has been that it is slugs trying to feed, but not being very successful. I've never caught any munchers though we do have a lot of slugs here. They are stealth feeders usually. |
Close up (ignore all the dirt and garbage that blew on it today). I ran my fingers over the spots and they're completely smooth.![]() Cubits Store: The Sempervivum Patch - plants, containers, accessories! Also stop by Timber Treasures and Garden Buddies on Cubits |
It will be fun watching what it does Chris. Maybe it is a peculiarity to h. 'Clinton'. Do you have that one twit? If so has yours ever done the polka dots? I really like them, it's so unusual. |

My Clinton died shortly after receiving it. Still think the spots are nurture rather than nature. Sunscald from water drops? Chris, it would be nice to watch and see if the spots change or if new ones develop and how quickly that happens. Let's put on our lab smocks and get to work on the puzzle. |
Where did you get your Clinton from twit? I've got my lab smock on and a magnifying glass to look at the photos. ![]() |

I think it was from a trade with Chris. |
This is a new plant for me this year. Sorry yours didn't make it Twit. Maybe next year it'll be big enough to divide and we can try again. It's located in my semp bed with tons of other ones, but it's the only one that has anything weird like this going on. Off to find my lab coat. Will try to take pictures at least weekly for a while so we can keep an eye on it. ![]() Maybe we should break 'Clinton' off into a thread by itself so we don't lose the info here. Now I'm wondering who it was. Lynn? |
Not me twit, I don't have Clinton. |
Twit, I had sent it to you this spring. I had ordered one and actually received two. Cubits Store: The Sempervivum Patch - plants, containers, accessories! Also stop by Timber Treasures and Garden Buddies on Cubits |

I think this is about the most overwhelming time of the year, at least for me. Some time this winter I may get caught up. ![]() |

Yes, I'll have to start moving my rhipsalis and ee's indoors in the next week or two to beat the frost in about a month from now. |
Okay now you are making me feel panicky twit. We still have company, still trying to get caught up on the yard, still have about 100 semps in nursery trays that need planting. Sighhhhh. ![]() |

Naw! You're in the PNW, you have lots of time assuming you don't get that earthquake or tsunami! |
