I have a few morning glory annuals I am growing indoors in sunny window this winter. Some have begun to flower up.

One from today, Ipomoea cardiophylla. I believe it is related to Ipomoea tricolor, in which Heavenly Blue is a cultivar.

Need has nothing to do with it.
Very pretty Joseph. I think MG must like a lot of heat. Mine never grew very well. Last year would have been a great year to grow them but unfortunately I didn't know it would be such a long hot summer for us (pacific northwest) and never planted any.

Connie, where there is a will, there is a way. You could plant one in a pot where you could move it around until you found a place where it seems happy.

Joseph,

How deep a pot should one need for planting morning glories? I have a lot of lattice-work, but next to no adjacent soil...so pots would be about my only way to plant morning glories. Also, about how many MG plants per medium size pot? I have a variety of seeds to try out this year.

Don,

You can have good success growing them in 2 or 3 gallon pots. You'd want to use a larger pot if the pot was supporting the trellis. What will you be growing? It's nice to meet other MG growers.

These buds on Convolvulus tricolor Royal Ensign should open soon. They are showing nice yellow color, which will be the tube color.

My first MG bloom of the season was this morning. It was supposed to be red. No complaints from me! It is growing in a hanging pot with an ornamental sweet potato.
