This map shows the northeast half of Israel in zone 9 and the south west half in zone 10 with Jerusalem right at the edge of zone 9 and 10.

David, regardless of your "zone" which really only indicates how cold it gets in winter, I would think your climate there would be most similar to Southern California, or even parts of Arizona.

Not sure you'll find a lot of plants similar to your native ones in Israel, but you are growing lots of things that will grow in both those place. By all means try to visit the Botanical Gardens when you are in the US.
