Hello. Anybody know the name of this purslane ? I cant find it in the database. Is it a mutation of yellow and pink bicolor ?

Occasionaly the plant produce yellow with orange brush without pink.

It reminds me of mine and it never had a tag with a name. Plus each grower seems to change the name.

Yes at first i think it is the yellow and pink like yours Becky, but with addition of orange at center.

I have collect seeds from the plants (dont know the pollen parent). And most of its progeny become pure yellow. Some produce pale pink. The best one is red pink with yellow shade at the back of petal. I just want to cross it (maybe white pollen will resulting nice flower). Thats why i search the name of it. But nursery men just simply call all of them as portulaca.

Years ago prior to having a digital camera, I took photos of a bee- propagated ornamental purslane. I had a mix of them in nearby pots. The bee decided pink and white would be pretty and I had one single bloom with two pink petals, two white, and the other was split down the middle with pink and white. I have a hard copy photos tucked away "somewhere" which I will scan if I ever find it again.

Yes, broken colors are unique. Some years ago i have plant purslane with white with pink stripe (like peppermint candy). It often produce solid pink petal on all 5 petals,or on some petals. But after months fogetting the site where it grows, i found them got fungus attacked. I have try to take as much as possible cutting from healthy remain which later grow on pots. But unfortunately the candy stripe have lost.

Xiao, It will take me a long time before I find the photo... all packed up in boxes.

I'd love to visit a nursery where they grow the purslane.

Look up Portulaca 'Duet Rose' for these. I've got one, which for some reason, hasn't bloomed yet. I've seen slightly different names also. I moved it to a sunnier spot, maybe that will help it! It's not easy to find, Nature's Herb Farm was where I've found it locally.

It sure is pretty

It seem that duet rose is the closest. Maybe my portulaca is a sport or mutant from duet rose.

I searched for them at all flower nursery nearby and cant find one yet.

And here is one seedling from that yellow orange pink parent. It is the only one unique with red and orange colors. Other seedling produce yellow or pink. None of them have stripe.

How about making some crosses today ? 😊
