This should be Daily #159!

'So Sweet' is a medium sized plant with glossy green leaves with a wide white margin, good substance, will take sun; fragrant lavender flowers. The 1996 Hosta of the Year. Registered by Paul Aden which makes the originally registered origin of the plant highly suspect - http://www.hostalibrary.org/fi... I acquired mine September 2005. Please feel free to share your pictures of this hosta.

I grow 'So Sweet' and I have liked it since I planted it here. Then I saw a hosta advertised as Sun Hosta, it was supposedly a sport of So Sweet. So I bought some and planted the four Sun Hosta around the garden, one I planted right next to 'So Sweet' so I could judge for myself the differences.
Now after a full year here are the results...can anyone tell the difference?

The two planted next to each other, 'So Sweet' is the one in the back, I have had it a year or two longer than the Sun Hosta in the foreground so naturally it is larger.

They do take sun rather well even in my 8b garden.

They sure look the same! I've always thought "Sun Hosta" was a marketing name, but then I don't live in Alabama. It's not listed in the My Hostas Database list of hostas with 'sun' in their names - http://www.myhostas.be/db/info...
