My first seedling to bloom in May .... is a tie as I have 2:

ZZZ38 (Galaxy Explosion x Lily Munster). This is it's second year to bloom. I love the flower, but the scape height is still short. Bloom is 8 1/2", 1 branch with 9 buds, and a 13 1/4" tall scape. Absolutely no rust, thrip damage, or leaf streak on this plant. There is a rust bucket leaf that has been touching this plant for weeks. No rust! Yay! A very good attribute to possess.

Last year's bloom. (It had a 10" scape with a 6 1/2" bloom and NO rust last year either! It first bloomed on May 15, 2015):
Thumb of 2016-05-02/beckygardener/e28872

So it appears to BE rust resistant, the scape has grown a little taller this year. And the bloom is quite large with curling petals! This was grown from seeds I got from Cindy (hemlady). I am happy how it is evolving from last year! I love it!

The second seedling (CCC03) is also having it's second year of blooms. The cross is Laughing Clown x Instant Graffiti from Daredevil Daylilies. This one has actually bloomed for the first time this season on 3/22/16. But it also had 2 blooms today. This one also is showing very good rust resistance. The foliage looks great! Taller scapes (27"). Blooms range from 6" - 6 1/2". 6 scapes currently on this small clump. 2 branches with 16 buds. The bloom is not fancy, but the plant foliage is so nice and the scapes taller than most of my seedlings, that I also really like this one. Need to cross it with ZZZ38! Thumbs up

Last year's bloom (5" bloom, 23" scape, and rust resistant last year, too!) Bloom size and scape height has increased this year. It bloomed it's first bloom on 3/30/15 last year.:

Becky,
I love the cascading on the first one, and the color/edging on the second one. It's amazing to see the color and form improvements in just a year. Smiling

Thank you.

Regina - my photos prove that seedlings DO indeed change during the first 3 years. I plan to keep all of them those formative years before culling some. Rust resistance is my biggest priority at this time, pretty faces with good bud count and medium to tall scapes. I like big blooms too! I'm not picky .... Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious!

Nice Becky, that first one is really nice.

I think this is the largest pattern so far and may be my favorite.

I have never been happy with "LITTLE MUCHO MINTO"
because it has never, not even close, resembled the hybridizers photo.
However I did use it and the first two seedlings have
lots of green. I liked them well enough to save the pollen to
use on some of the other small seedlings.

Becky, your seedlings get the short scape from Lily Munster. I love LM but I prefer taller scapes, however, those seedlings are very nice regardless of how short they are!!!! It's interesting to see what you get from a cross. I would have thought that Galaxy Explosion with its tall scapes would have imparted that trait to its babies.

I see I posted the same seedling twice, well it's only going to get worse, everyday I'm a day older.
The first three photos show the improvement of
this seedling over a couple of weeks.

I agree
Sometimes crosses go the other direction and lose some of the first bloom qualities. Glad yours are improving!
