Here are photos of a large shrub growing in the back of my border. Can anyone ID it for me?
It is lightly, sweetly scented.

Yes, that's a Deutzia - probably a Deutzia gracilis or close relative.

Distinctive frilly flowers on terminals along with opposite arrangement of simple foliage are key ID features.

This is wonderful! I've wanted to add a Deutzia to my garden and now I don't have to!

Should I prune it this fall to help its shape or let it grow naturally? It has a bird nest in
its hair.
