During my trip to Manila over two weeks ago, I used Taipei airport again as my connection point. Always love this connecting point, clean and pretty..and Phal orchids and plants around, makes it more fun for me I chose a rather long layover, I was not sure how accurate the flight times were with China Airlines since it was my first time to use them, they initially were using only a 1.5 hr connection, and I was not comfortable with that, so I took a much later flight connection. I have been to Taipei airport before using Eva Air so I remember how pretty it was. I used to fly direct but direct fares are twice as expensive these days. I arrived in Taipei around 6am so it is quite nice to take photos, less people around:
The green galleries, really love these ones too! Indoor gardening fun at the airport:
I can't think of a better way to pass the time after a long international flight with a long layover ...very few airports consider using the miles of blank spaces to enhance the ambience.

It was so much fun going around there, their boarding gates and duty free shop areas are quite fanciful and artistic..incoporating art and culture, so a long journey is really made less exhausting:
I was always amazed at how large and spacious the chinese airports were...and how few people were in them..not at all like our US airports with crowds of people everywhere.
I have been to Taipei on my first flight to the Philippines. I don't remember seeing the orhids. I remember the shops, the area with the bulls and some plants (don't remember what kind). Where did you see them. Were all the hats painted by the elementary school kids still up display when you went thru?

Hi Richard, it was during my trip last Apr 2016-May2016. I was walking around terminal 1 and terminal 2..lots to see there. The painting by the elementary kids was new to me as well, the other time I went thru Taipei in 2014, it was not there. I guess they have to change themes yearly to make it always interesting to explore. I was also looking for the orchid boarding gate, which I saw in 2014, it was not there this year, what they had instead are those long walkways with Phal orchids.
