Bristol Gem - a lovely blue shade to this one.

Tom's Famous Red NOID! Just kidding, but it is a red noid as I have no tag picture for it. Sad How about you Gabe? It was at the end of Row 37.

Snowy Wonderland - I love the green veining. I know this looks a lot less showy than the Ross Road Iris pic in the database, but I find it has charm in it's rain soaked version too.

I've posted a link to this thread on the HIPS forum, as there are quite a few there who enjoy reading about "Iris Trips" .......in this case, it's almost more of an "iris recue", than just a buying trip. Sadly, there are quite a few paces that, as the 'owner" ages, and perhaps can't care for the plants as well as they used to, are getting "over grown". iris are being lost at an alarming rate, and while some are quite common, others may be the only known examples. And, while other, younger, family members may also have the "iris bug", it's rare to find them as "dedicated" as was the original owner. Many of those gardens are lost to home sites, weeds, or lawns....time marches on !

I think this year the weeds are probably worse than usual because Thelma is in hospice care and her daughters have less time to devote to the garden than usual. I have more pictures to post, but they are only a handful of those actually there. Gabe found out that they do have a book with all the iris located by Row and iris number. Thank heavens because some of the tags were hard to find, and in some cases hard to read.

She has a pretty extensive collection of American hybridizers.

I think all of us should think about letting family members know what to do with our plants. One would not do irises as she was really hit by the iris borer. but the other 2 girls have small gardens. We don't have a 'book' of our iris plants, but I should get it together this year.

You are exactly right, Lucy ! I have "made arrangements" for all my iris (anything that's left, after the rot is done, anyway Grumbling !) with "who to call"," where to send", etc. Even one season of 'neglect' can allow clumps to grow together, and weeds to choke out the weaker growers.

Did "Mr 21 questions" get to pick their own plant(s)? And if so, what was chosen?

Also, is there a listing of Thelma's irises? Sorry if this was provided before. I am out on vacation (sort of) and not on my computer, so out of sorts!

Greg - Faye's daughter has a book listing the iris. Gabe found that out on his second visit. You write down your choices, they dig. Rest of the info was tree mailed to you.

Only 54 minutes rather than 7 or so hours? You can do it in 45 minutes for sure, especially when there are interesting irises awaiting.
