How do I set the 'New' value in the Forum post?

Just by posting a "new" message. If you post a message to any thread on a forum it will automatically notify everyone that there is a new post.

I don't think it will show New for your own posts because you'd be presumed to have read it since you wrote it, but it will show as New to everyone else.

The "New" is an indicator that there is new content for you to see. Your own posts don't count as new since you already saw it when you wrote it.

As soon as someone else posts something, it'll show New again, indicating you should visit and see what was posted.
