This is not exactly about gardening for wildlife...

At a local school they have planted a tree in the playground in memory of a young student. (That's the gardening part.)

When the children and teachers were enjoying the sunshine outside on the playground there was an announcement -
"Everyone!! Return to your classrooms immediately!!!

Shrug! ?

The assistant teacher leaned over and whispered..."There is a really big school mascot that came out of the pond and is walking on the playground."

Shrug! ?

Ah, the mascot for the school is...an alligator!
Yes, there was a real, live alligator walking on the playground. (That's the wildlife part.)

No one was in danger as the school officials acted quickly and called Trapper Jack who captured the alligator.

Hmm. When I was in elementary school (about a hundred years ago) it was Mountain lions here. They weren't protected in those days and out school janitor shot it. I can't say I've ever heard of anyone eating them. Blinking Hilarious!
