|It is now almost the end of May and our River Birch Tree still doesn't have all its leaves. There are still a lot of (don't know what they are called) worm like yellow seedlings hanging from the tree. Is this normal? I'm really beginning to worry as I love this tree.|

Yes, location is everything. @Roereale, please take a moment and click on the (little guy) Profile in the upper left corner. Then click on "Change your Public Profile" and enter your location. City/state is best but if nothing else, enter your USDA zone. Then your location will show each time you post.

None of the birch trees have leafed out yet in my area -- so, if you're pretty far north I'd say it is normal. The fact that it has catkins on it is a good sign that it is happy, I'd say
