Insect and Bug ID forum: What type of hawk moth ?

Found this little dude this morning around 5:30 hanging on the steps. Last night I heard some serious smacking Into the screen door, and the porch light was on, so I assume he has quite the headache as he had his head tucked into the corner of the steps, lol xD I tried looking up the species, but I couldn't quite find one like him. I live in ephrata Washington. I thought he might be a poplar hawk moth, but wasn't quite the same coloring....
