For me, they need to come down to below $50ish - and I have snagged a couple from the LA that I wanted. Otherwise, last winter, I purchased seeds for some that I really wanted, and couldn't afford the parent plant.
Otherwise, I can be patient. I have a specific amount of money in my yard budget - and blew it last year but accomplished a lot. I may wait a lot of years, and sometimes one has to be in the right place at the right time.
I also feel that by waiting, I can get a better indication of how the plant might do in my area, much less plant habit that may night be identified early on (at least that is what I tell myself!)
If my family only knew what I spent on daylilies this past year, ........
I have found that if I fill out an order form, or just track things on the LA, and then WAIT overnight or a day or two, then I am better able to decide if I really want something or truly need it - but I didn't figure this out until recently.
