I agree It's gorgeous. I just bought one a few weeks ago for $10 from the Lowe's clearance shelves. I wanted one so badly that I was willing to pay the $20 regular price. I love it. Lovey dubby

Is that an aka for Stephanotis because that is what it looks like to me. So fragrant.

I don't think the botanical name has changed, I believe it is still Stephanotis floribunda but with a syn. of S. jasminoides. Madagascar Jasmine is the common name.

Anna, that is gorgeous! I had a Stephanotis (Marsdenia floribunda) for about 8 years or so but I was never able to get it to bloom! We moved and downsized and had limited space so I gave it away ... I kinda wish I'd kept it because it was a pretty plant even without the flowers.

My apologies, there is another name. I know the boffins are changing names like crazy but I do wonder which sources have the final say.

Apparently Stephanotis is still the genus and Marsdenia is a species of Stephanotis. Clear as mud........

I will have to take another picture tomorrow. Instead of being loaded with buds, it's now loaded with open blooms. SO pretty. I've had this one about 5 years or so. It didn't do squat the first 3.............LOL I had it in a hanging pot. Since it didn't seem to be particularly enthused about it, I put it in a pot with a "trellis".........well, one of those cone-y shaped ones. It has sure outgrown that, but I'm not really wanting to cut it back and repot with a bigger/taller trellis.

When I purchased my plant years ago it was Stephanotis floribunda but apparently the scientists changed it to genus Marsdenia.

The Catalogue of Life (last updated May, 2016) is showing Stephanotis floribunda as a synonym for Marsdenia floribunda as our database currently lists it.

Stephanotis floribunda Brongn. Species synonym for Marsdenia floribunda (Brongn.) Schltr.
