A company that I buy hosta from, The Hosta Farm, is having an 'emergency' sale. Last winter, they had a devastating snowfall, which crushed most of their greenhouse space. If that wasn't enough, his daughter was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Needless to say, the guy is in a real bind.

The 35mm plugs of the following varieties are being offered for $3.85 each. If you buy hosta mail order, you know this is a fantastic deal. He is planning on shipping these the first week of July.

Varieties available:
- Abiqua Drinking Gourd
- Big Daddy
- Blue Angel
- Blue Hawaii
- Blue Mammoth
- Earth Angel
- First Frost
- Great Expectations
- Halcyon
- Patriot
- Pilgrim

I was thinking maybe we could do a a couple of group buys and save on shipping costs. We can organize by proximity for pick-up. For example, I can receive for Gaithersburg/Rockville/Silver Spring/Frederick, etc. If someone wanted to set up for PA, NY, DE, etc. that would be great.

I can put the initial purchase on my credit card, and you can pay me when you pick them up.

Anyone interested?

He is also offering a 'buy now, use later' deal on gift certificates. If you buy a certificate now and wait until fall to use it, he will double the value. $20 gets you $40, etc.

If you are interested in the gift certificates, you can buy these directly at http://www.thehostafarm.com/cl...

I am interested. I have never bought plugs. Are they only one eye? I might try a few if you think this is a good company. Teresa in KY

Will he have more than this list?

Thanks Teresa!

The plugs are usually one eye, although I have purchased some the came with 2 eyes. I've lost track of how many hosta I've purchased from him over the years. (He is responsible for my rather extensive collection!) The 35mm plugs are the same size that another on-line hosta grower sells for $12.00.

He has a large inventory of hosta that are more mature, starting at $5.00 each. These starters were ordered for his regular inventory to pot on and grow, but with his daughter taking ill, he hasn't been able to devote much time and needs these gone to make room for other stuff coming in.

Since you are in Kentucky, it would make more sense for you to purchase directly than trying to do a group buy. (Unless you have some interested neighbors.) The link for the sale page is http://www.thehostafarm.com/cl...

Please let me know if you have any more questions.
