Oh darn, I really want to go check out Palmer Orchids but I have family coming on Sunday and, well, my energy is still not all that great after my event last weekend.

Not to mention the budget is totally blown by the ridiculously expensive pills we had to buy . . .

Jim that is beautiful! Gorgeous cotton candy color around the brighter center! I love it! What is the "anthe" part of the name? I know what the brasso & cat parts are...

Did you see my post above about Palmer Orchids??

That's a nice one Jim!
I'm trying to firm up my calendar...have we got any dates in mind for an Apopka run?

Patty, Bsn. Maikai is made up of Brassavola [B.] nodosa X Guarianthe [Gur.] bowringiana. Then they crossed that with Cattleya [C.] purpurata. So the "anthe" comes from the Guarianthe bowringiana. In other words, my Simba's Song is 1/4 Brassavola, 1/4 Guarianthe, and 1/2 Cattleya.

Lindsey, I have no dates in mind yet. Sorry to hear Elaine may not be able to go and have not heard from the folks on the east coast nor from M.J. All who may want to meet in Apopka should speak up so we can pick the best date.

Just to clear things up...I'm pretty sure Elaine, @dyzzypyxxy was talking about not being able to go to the Palmer Orchid thing I posted above---she was NOT talking about the Apopka trip!

I posted it cause I thought maybe you @hawkarica and @sugarcane might want to make a trip down here for the Palmer Orchid Open house (again, see post above).

I am sure Elaine wants to go to Apopka...and so do I, if the dates work ok for me.

Hoping for a little clarity here....I probably made things as clear as mud! Shrug!

I'm thinking about the Palmer open house..but it all depends on whats going on in the disaster zone of my house. The plumbing inspector stopped by today the electrical inspector was supposed to ..but did not.. The bottom line is I'm trying to keep my sweet dog Lady out of the drama as much as possible and , so far, haven't been getting much info from the contractor regarding the schedule. Part of the problem is that I can only understand every 4th word he says...between his very thick southern accent and the massive wad of chewing tobacco...heck..I can't even read his lips! Confused

Unless you want to rent a helicopter or send your private jet, nope, can't go to Apopka although I'd truly love to go. Two hours driving each way ain't happening for a few months. Got to let my clots dissipate.

Funny, the post from before, where I explained this has disappeared . . .

Thanks Ursula. Yes I was sort of bouncing back and forth with the trips and sales and what all.

Wish our spirits could drive along with our credit cards though, don't you?

Ha, yeah right. I've got my son & family coming on Sunday for a 10 day stay. Every bit of my limited energy is going towards planning for their visit, and now I have to make lists and get Marsh to do all the legwork.

Back to my last shopping trip. Ursula, can you find anything on Vanda Weerapan? It is mentioned several times on the internet but there is no record of it on OrchidWiz. Thanks.

That's the cute red vanda we got from Goodwins..it had a different name on the tag as I recall. I let them know of the new ( correct name) and they did not acknowledge my email.

Jim, I looked for it the other day, I can't find it either. But, somehow this name rings a bell, did we do some detective work on this previously? (Although a search on that doesn't turn up anything either)
