Hello,
I am new to garden.org and need help with identifying an iris. It blooms early in Michigan and may be a border bearded iris as it is medium sized height.
Name: Bonnie Sojourner Harris Brake Lake, Arkansas (Zone 7a) Magnolia zone
Hi Lindsay. Do you have any more photos of the iris? Perhaps a close up of the beard? How tall is it approximately. It looks lovely and perhaps someone here can come up with some matches to consider.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
I don't have any more photos, but will take some next year when they bloom again. I cut down the stalks already, but most leaves measure around or just under 2 feet.
Where did you get it? You can do a data base search based on certain qualities, such a WHITE beard - purple standards and falls. One similar historic is Rose Marie by Cayeux. You can also check the photo gallery at historiciris.org
I got it from a friend whose house was foreclosed. I am nurturing many plants to hopefully give back one day when my friend is "back on his feet again." He didn't know what it was. It was there when he bought the place. Thanks for the tip. I'll try a search.
