Raise them every time you repot. And yes, cut the hair roots that are going to be above the ground.
I don't let them heal for 2 months though, more like a few days!

i have been pokine at them with twist tie but no lock. ok no sleep so got a question i know dont take cuttings now!!!!!! but look ta this
there are leaves on the flower stalks
how do i know when the seed pot it mature on the adeniums?
Oct 5, 2011 9:32 AM CST
Mike, that is cool about the leaves on the inflo. It does occasionally happen. It will eventually turn into a branch!
The seedpods on Plumeria and Adeniums both with start to get a marked line through the center just before it starts to split open. Best is to tape it shut or put a baggie or rubber band over it, so as not let the seeds fly away. Check them regularly when the time comes for the seedpods to mature. In Plumeria - the pods take 9 months! So seedpods from this year will hang on through the winter and mature in spring.

how long does seed pods on adeniums to ripen? about the same? got them all protected. do you know that confederate Jasmin plants have the same of type of looking pods
Oct 5, 2011 6:11 PM CST
It will take about 4-5 months I think. Some people just wrap them gently with some garden tape or wire to prevent them splitting open and the seeds blowing away.
The Trachelospermum jasminoides (Confederate Jasmine) is in the Apocynaceae family as well, so that is why the seedpods are so alike.

going to back surgeon tomorrow wish me luck I am working on packing slips for co-op everyone that are getting plants as gifts do you want the leaves cut off and do you want the roots protected with wet towels??
talk to you all later
Oct 6, 2011 3:41 AM CST
Good luck with your appointment today Mike!!
Oct 6, 2011 8:12 AM CST
Mike,it is better to have no leaves and the roots not protected.I would be surprised if your supplier has not already stripped the leaves before shipment.Any I have received have always been bare and all have lived and thrived, soon putting on new leaves.
Now, that said,we will be getting these plants very late in the year so resist the temptation to over water them when you pot them up.My system is to put the bare plants into a bucket of water and let them soak up some water for about an hour and then pot in slightly damp soil.Keep them on the dry side and as warm as you can until they get new leaves.
