These redish orange insects are all over my Eryngium (also another all black wasp like insect). They look fierce! But I've never had any bother me. They move VERY quickly from "bloom" to "bloom". Sorry that I could not get a better picture.

I finally was able to ID her myself

Great Golden Digger Wasp. Very interesting.
