It's located not far from a riverbank, here in Vermont. I believe there's a black cherry tree not far from it. I'll get more pics uploaded soon. Thank you for the help Smiling

well it's not an elderberry, I grow several varieties and the berries grow in clusters also the leaves are different. It's also not a dogwood.

The leaves look alternate, they'd be opposite for Viburnum.

NGA database pic of Frangula alnus, which has alternate leaves that may look opposite in some cases



The ID plant berries look a little flatter than this though.
