It really is, carol...I just spotted a small aster in the grass in he front yard...I still haven't dug up the Gooseberry in the front, need to put that in a tub...

Oh! Don't hurt that gooseberry! Think of the pies. the jam! Uh, wait a minute...is this a wild gooseberry, or does it get usable fruit? I know they are banned in Ca.

Banned in Ca? Had no idea...that's too bad, that's why I had to pull my St. John's Wort. If it just came up here, then it's most likely going to be the wild...will have to check on that...

We have native gooseberry, but can't import commercial ones due to some disease. Probably not a lot of call for them anyway.

Ah, so there is not a problem with the native? Invasive or whatever? I have not looked it up yet...many things going online here at the moment...LOL...I've not cooked with gooseberries before, but if I have them, I will. At first i cursed the blackberries, now I need a bowlful with cream and Splenda every day....

Ta-daaa! Looks like schizostylis...always wanted to grow those...dunno if there's something that looks the same, will have to ask my friend who gave me the carex....

yep....my friend says hesperantha, looked it up, synonymous with schizostylis....it apparently will reseed...cool.
