Elaine,

Not sure why the smell originates but think it has to do with the application of moisture. I've noticed if rains right away I tend to get the smell, but when it rains a few days latter after application I do not get the smell, it may have something to do with after a few days the corn gluten goes further into the turf via the grass growing and the corn gluten just working its way into the yard.
