@beckygardener Becky, I noticed Matthew is going strong in the Caribbean- I hope it makes some sort of eastern turn so it misses your state. I do envy your weather, but I will keep my snow. I still like sledding and skating and my fireplace : )
(I remember hearing frost warnings for Florida fairly often when I was growing up. One of my first real-world economic lessons. Killing frost in Florida= expensive produce since supply and demand aren't in sync. I take it that's not the case as often?)

@Pat236 She's a beauty! I think I have one bud left to bloom on a little purple noid... The buds on yours look lovely : )

Becky, would you have to evacuate if Matthew hits Florida's east coast??

If it is a category 4 or 5 then we should consider leaving. BUT Florida roads are not able to handle a large evacuation, so that said I don't know if I would or not. Typically, the Hurricanes heading to my location go through the Bahamas first which often lowers the category so they are rarely a 4 or 5 when they hit my area.

I am sitting here wondering what I am going to do with all the potted daylilies as I haven't yet got them transplanted into one of the raised beds. Tornadoes are the biggest concern for severe damage. A strong hurricane will spur off tornadoes. So ....... Confused Confused

Pat236 said:This bloom is from my Maryott's order on September 6th. I thought it was Precious Stones, but it turned out to be Spanish Fiesta. Not sure if it was mislabeled or I mixed them up. In any case it's a nice big bloom.

@Char, I received Precious Stones as a bonus, and I was sure it was placed in red matching pot. But this is what bloomed in said red Precious Stones pot. I assume it's Spanish Fiesta based on my order at the time. I ordered Parrots of the Caribbean, Power Surge, Ruffly Duffly Dude, Mineral Springs, Spanish Fiesta, and Calamity Jane. The bonus plants were Hanalei Bay, Orange Grove, Precious Stones, Janet and Bill, and Born in California. I have a scape on Calamity Jane....can't wait to see what that looks like. I guess it will next spring to see where I planted Precious Stones.

Ironic you got Calamity Jane as I just gave mine away. Cutting back on my daylilies and had to make hard choices. It was the first to bloom this spring, even before Happy Returns, and had a bud on it just about to open on a new rebloom scape when it went to a new home last week. Good luck with yours........Maryl

Maryl, it's one that I've wanted for a while. Maryott's had it for BOGO, and he sent five fans. I hope does well in my area.

I posted a photo on the October Bloom thread of Walter Kennedy's first bloom since I received this cultivar in my last order. http://garden.org/thread/view_...

I ordered only 3 new plants and got Fame as a bonus which is excellent because it is a dormant. Very happy about that. Probably depends on how much you spend...I only spent $36. I LOVE Spanish Fiesta. Nice plant....

I LOVE Walter Kennedy but I am on my 2nd try with it as the first plant died last year. The seller was gracious enough to send me more so I am trying again. Maybe zone 5 is too cold for it to do well...

Sad on the ending! I don't know most of those, but Thomas Tew is a definite winner!

I was seduced into ordering 'Thomas Tew' when I read the praises of it on this forum. Whistling

I am hoping that 'Oktoberfest' can stand the non-spray environment here and perform.
