This is from top. I think it is a Bromaliad of some sort.

It has a baby and I just transplanted it, I brought it in for the winter.
Thank you, All.

Yes, a Bromeliad ... one of the Aechmeas, I think, but I'm not entirely sure which one. Tiger Stripe? Perhaps someone else can narrow it down further. Nice specimen.

It is a rough textured plant. Nothing soft about it but very pleasing to look at.
Thank you Tee.

Yes, the Aechmea Bromeliads have toothed edges on the leaf margins and some can be very leathery and rough textured. I just can't pin this one down to a variety name off the top of my head.

I'll show it to some of my Aussie folks, they will know. They got these things growing all over down there. Wouldn't you love to see Australia with all it's unique plants and animals??? I sure would.

Yes that's it! You have to be careful with the edge, It's not cut me but if grabbed rough enough it would let you know it. Thanks girl.
I'm going to add you to my Charley list if you wish. No Charge. But there's no charge anyhow, just love the mule. Hurray! Hurray!

My first thought was Chryptanthus zonatus: http://www.google.com/search?q...

http://bromeliads.gardenwebs.n...

But with those sharp teeth it is probably one of the Aechmea chantinii group: http://www.google.com/search?q...

I had it in the shade, guess that would change it's leaf color.

Yes, if in full sun they sometimes get very colorful.

Not a Cryptanthus for sure. I've had several.

If anyone comes up with the exact variety name, please do post it.
