That's an Epiphyllum. There's no way I can tell what variety it is, but it sure is beautiful!

That is one beautiful bloom. Is it blooming at night? hookerii is a night-bloomer.

Dave: Well, you got the Epiphyllum part, and I thought it sure looked identical to the plant I've had for 30+ years.

And that is blooming at night? Sorry to be such a stickler but inquiring minds want to know. I can't tell from the photo.

It bloomed out at night...lasted all the next day and was done by the next day.

I live in Daytona Beach, Florida and my E. hookeri blooms have always opened around 11:00 p.m. and are usually wilted by daybreak or soon after. My large plant is now in a deeply shaded corner of the backyard and two weeks ago there were two blooms still open the next morning around 9:00 a.m. but I've never had them remain open for a full day. I've read that E. hookeri blooms are fragrant but I've not detected fragrance on mine but it's probably just my nose, LOL because I have a very large Epiphyllum oxypetalum that everyone says is extremely fragrant and whenever it's in bloom I can only detect a slight fragrance.

Tee...I'm the Miss Ginger that Buttons got her Epi from. Yes it blooms at night, but not always after dark. At least for me. Depends on the temps and how sunny it is. I've had them stay open practically the whole day, but the temps were cool and it was a cloudy day.

Lin...this one to my nose has the scent of clove. Usually it's faint, but one night this summer it was VERY strong...much to my delight 2 or 3 years ago my son just had to taste the nectur...said it was sweet, but not overkill. :rofl:

Thanks for that info, Ginger. That's the thing with plants ... depending on where you are and the growing conditions, they can do such different things. In coastal CA, I never had a Night Blooming Cereus/Epi Hookeri stay open much during the day.
