As a comment about Orchid (Cattleya Tropical Pointer 'Cheetah'), plantladylin wrote:

I purchased this Orchid at one of the local Big Box stores because I loved the look of the orchid pictured on the label, a Cattleya in a deep red/burgundy color. While repotting I discovered another (different) label buried in the potting medium. When the plant bloomed it turned out to be the one on the buried tag, Lc. Tropical Pointer 'Cheetah'.

The plant label reads as follows: Laeliocattleya Tropical Pointer 'Cheetah'. I always get very confused at Orchid nomenclature so I did a little research on the internet and read that Tropical Pointer is a generic term for any cross between Laeliocattleya 'Tropic Glow' and Cattleya 'intermedia' and the clonal or cultivar name is 'Cheetah'.

This orchid is very different from the one I thought I was purchasing but it's a nice addition to my plant collection and I do like the pretty blooms.
